NACA’s Reach UR Life suicide prevention program provides training and technical assistance to youth-serving agencies and school systems, to build capacity and sustainability in the workforce. The goals within the Reach UR Life (RUL) program strive to promote protective factors and reduce the risks of suicide, focusing on Native American youth in Coconino, Navajo, and Apache Counties and the communities of the Navajo Nation and Hopi tribal areas.
Partners who receive training and technical assistance learn to provide early screening, resources, and support to youth (8-24 years) exhibiting risk factors for suicide. NACA’s RUL program builds upon the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention and Zero Suicide framework efforts to effectively reduce the rates of suicide and suicide attempts in Northern Arizona.
NACA’s RUL program offers suicide prevention direct counseling services for youth in cooperation with NACA Behavioral Health.
The RUL program offers case management services for those who have a referral for services, or those who are interested in receiving counseling services specific to youth age 8-24. To get scheduled for an initial intake or if you have any questions, call 928-526-2968 ext. 149 or email Angelina at atso@nacainc.org.
safeTALK (Suicide Alertness For Everyone)
Participants who complete the safeTALK training will become suicide alert helpers, have the ability to recognize a person at risk of suicide, and know how to connect them with a person trained in suicide first-aid intervention.
ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
The ASIST is a two-day interaction workshop for participants who want to feel comfortable, confident, and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.
The next ASIST training will be on May 18 & 19, 2026. Sign up with this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/L2NF3YN
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) for Indigenous Communities
QPR participants learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide and utilize three steps to keep someone safe from suicide. The steps are: Question a person about suicidal thoughts, Persuade them to seek help, and Refer them to appropriate professional services.
At Reach UR Life, we believe that suicide prevention is not just for doctors—it’s for all of us. We provide the tools, training, and support you need to show up for your neighbors, students, and coworkers when they need it most.
What We Offer:
Specialized Training: From evidence-based clinical methods like CBT and CAMS to Trauma-Informed Care.
Cultural Sensitivity: Programs designed to respect and respond to the unique needs of our diverse community.
Care for the Caregiver: We do not just teach prevention; we promote wellbeing and self-care for those doing the work.
You do not need a medical degree to make a difference. A safe space is anyone—a teacher, a coach, a friend—who is in a position to recognize when someone is struggling.
We offer nationally-recognized, beginner-friendly workshops like ASIST, safeTALK, and QPR. No prior experience is required—just a heart for your community.
The ASIST and safeTALK trainings are conducted in-person only. The 1-2 hour QPR program is available through in-person training format.
There is NO COST to attend and participate in the suicide prevention trainings.
