ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Interviews clients, reviews records, and confers with other professionals to evaluate the condition of client.
- Formulates program for treatment and rehabilitation of client.
- Counsels clients individually and in group sessions to assist them in overcoming alcohol and drug dependency or abuse.
- Counsels family members to assist family in dealing with and providing support for client, as time and staffing permits and when clinically appropriate.
- Refers client to other support services as needed such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services and employment services. Services as advocate for clients.
- Monitors condition of client to evaluate success of therapy, and adapts treatment as needed.
- Prepares and maintains progress reports and case histories.
- Formulates and conducts program lectures to promote prevention of alcohol and drug abuse upon request.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or substance abuse or related filed which would qualify the candidate to become licensed as a mental health or substance abuse professional in the State of Arizona. Licensed to provide behavioral health services at the associate level, or willing to become licensed at the associate level in the State of Arizona. Preferred: licensed in Arizona at the independent level to provide behavioral services or substance abuse services. Two (2) years of Substance Abuse Counseling experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. Must have experience with Electronic Health Records. Experience with conducting MATRIX groups and using DSM (current edition) diagnoses. This position is covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes. Must be current with required immunization per the NACA HR Policies and Procedures and Infection Control Policy. BLS and HIPAA Certification. Possess a valid state Driver’s License. Must pass a Level I Fingerprint Clearance and criminal background investigation in accordance with the HR Policy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of chemical dependency issues and behaviors.
- Knowledge of substance abuse diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of social work and counseling principles in individual and group processes, practices, and techniques sufficient to provide necessary and effective service to clients.
- Knowledge of federal state, and agency resources as possible sources assistance to clientele, as well as general knowledge of rule, regulations, and practices associated with such resources.
- Knowledge of DUI issues
- Knowledge of the socio-economic, cultural and traditions of Native Americans.
- Knowledge of chemical dependency issues and behaviors and social service resources on reservations and in outlying areas.
