Grand Canyon Vending Site Ranger

Job Type: Non-Exempt. Grand Canyon Vending Site Ranger (34 hours; Thursday – Sunday) Employment from April 1, 2025 – October 30, 2025

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Opens and closes the two Grand Canyon sites, promptness to scheduled work shift is required.
- Monitor vendor activities throughout the day to ensure compliance with program rules and regulations.
- Conduct daily inspection of vendor jewelry and arts and crafts products to ensure compliance with program rules and regulations.
- Record daily observations, occurrences, and submit records to supervisor and forest service personnel as necessary and/or required.
- Sell vendor spaces as they become available, provide receipts for all cash transactions and submit receipts complete with all reports to supervisor.
- Must be able to maintain open and professional communication with all vendors. Be able to discuss issues in confidence using courtesy and tact. Issue verbal warning and/or issue citations for noncompliance of program rules and regulations.
- Perform maintenance duties to park and restrooms such as empty trash containers, disinfecting and restocking restrooms, picking up litter and debris from the facility and the grounds, sweeping walkways, cleaning picnic tables, cleaning and emptying cigarette holders and keeping culverts clear of silt and debris, and snow removal for trails.
- Maintain site office, ensure all program equipment is accounted for, keep inventory of program supplies.
- Greet and provide general information regarding the vendor program, local tribes and surrounding points of interest to tourists, inspect the Museum site trail.
- Communicate with supervisor on a consistent basis during shift and with coworker regarding events and/or announcements that need to be made to vendor or supervisor.
- Ensure the safety and security of all persons.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirement
High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year in ranger work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Must be current with required immunization per the NACA HR Policies and Procedures and Infection Control Policy. BLS Certification and HIPAA Certification (can be acquired before and/or after hire). Possess a valid state Driver’s License. Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC). Must pass a criminal background check investigation in accordance with NACA Policy. Reliable transportation to and from the worksite is required.

- Knowledge of effective advanced cleaning techniques sufficient to perform maintenance duties.
- Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, supervisor and vendors in a professional manner.
- Be multi-task oriented and be a self-starter.
- Be able to handle stressful situations effectively and promptly.
- Ability to work independently and be a team leader.
- Skill in writing sufficient reports to prepare daily activity reports and citations.
- Ability to maintain a safe environment for vendors and visitors of the site.
- Ability to understand the Navajo Language.
