Overlook Site Ranger

Salary: $21.92 per hour

Job Type: Non-Exempt; 24 – 38 hours per week

Closing Date: Until Filled

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Monitors vendor activities throughout the day to ensure compliance with program rules and regulations.
  • Conducts daily inspections of vendor jewelry and arts and crafts products to ensure compliance with program rules and regulations such as proper permits displayed on vendor tables.
  • During shift, record daily observations, activities, occurrences and submit records to supervisor and forest service personnel as required.
  • Issues verbal warnings and/or issues citations for noncompliance of program rules and regulations. Must be able to maintain open and professional communication with all vendors. Be able to discuss issues in confidence using courtesy and tact.
  • Performs maintenance duties to the park and restrooms such as emptying trash containers, disinfecting and restocking restrooms, picking up litter and debris from the facility and the grounds, sweeping walkways, cleaning picnic tables, cleaning and emptying cigarette holders, keeping culverts clear of silt and debris, and snow removal for trails.
  • Maintains site office, ensures all program equipment is accounted for, keeps inventory of program supplies.
  • Operates program machinery such as a four-trek, bobcat, power-washer, power tools only after training and knowledge of proper safety usage.
  • Reports power outage to APS, calls in propane delivery when needed.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisor on a consistent basis during shift and with coworker regarding events and/or announcements that need to be made to vendors.
  • Opens and closes the Overlook Site, promptness to scheduled work shift is required. Promptly report tardiness and gives timely notices for absence from work to supervisor.
  • Ensures the safety and security of all persons and if needed reports, monitors, and assists with emergencies until local authorities and /or personnel arrive at the scene.
  • Assists, supervises park ground projects and ensures safety of the vendors, public and park traffic.
  • Greets and provides the public with information regarding the vendor program, local tribes, and surrounding points of interest to tourists.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year in ranger work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Must be current with required immunization per the NACA HR Policies and Procedures and Infection Control Policy. BLS Certification and HIPAA Certification (can be acquired before and/or after hire). Possess a valid state Driver’s License. Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC). Must pass a criminal background check investigation in accordance with NACA Policy. Reliable transportation to and from the worksite is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Skills in written and oral communications and excellent interpersonal skills in interaction with coworkers, supervisor, clientele, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information.
  • Strong phone etiquette.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Software.
  • Skills in excellent customer service and organizational skills.
