Health Information Specialist
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 annually

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Maintain EHR integrity and compliance with NACA policies, HIPAA, and federal privacy regulations.
- Manage and secure electronic health information, ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality.
- Coordinate EHR updates, patches, testing and user access requests in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide day-to-day system support, training, and troubleshooting for EHR applications and users when issues arise.
- Configure and maintain the test and production EHR databases, templates, and forms to meet NACA’s clinical and administrative needs.
- Serve as liaison between NACA departments, IT Support Contract Service provider, and external partners for technical issues and upgrades.
- Train staff on EHR use and ensure annual training access renewals, and user competency documentation.
- Ensure compliance with NACA policies, procedures, and external regulatory standards.
- Assist with federal and grant reporting (e.g., GPRA, UDS, Meaningful Use, and IHS data submissions).
- Works closely with the Health Information System Specialist on NextGen EHR.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems Management, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting or managing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and applications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position. This position is covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes. Must be current with required immunization per the NACA HR Policies and Procedures and Infection Control Policy. BLS Certification and HIPAA Certification. Possess a valid state Driver’s License. Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card. Must pass a criminal background check investigation in accordance with NACA Policy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of EHR systems and software supporting the system.
- Knowledge of operating systems, networking, cybersecurity, and database management.
- Knowledge of NextGen EHR, GPRA, and UDS systems and measures.
- Knowledge of software programs for personal computer use, especially word processing, email, internet research, and spreadsheets.
- Strong understanding of computer systems, hardware, and software troubleshooting, configuring, and maintenance.
- Ability to analyze data, problem solving, and make conclusions to resolve issues with the EHR systems.
- Ability to carry out assignments to their completion.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client information and records.
- Ability to prioritize work under pressure and emotional stress.
- Ability to effectively communicate professionally, both internally and externally.
