Grand Canyon Vending Site Ranger
Location: Grand Canyon National Park
Salary: $21.92 per hour
Job Type: Non-Exempt. Grand Canyon Vending Site Ranger (34 hours; Thursday – Sunday) Employment from April 1, 2026 – October 30, 2026

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- During shift, record daily observations, activities, occurrences and submit records to supervisor and forest service personnel as required and Grand Canyon Service Personnel.
- Issues verbal warnings and/or issues citations for noncompliance of program rules and regulations. Must be able to maintain open and professional communication with all vendors. Be able to discuss issues in confidence using courtesy and tact.
- Performs maintenance duties to the park and restrooms such as emptying trash containers, disinfecting and restocking restrooms, picking up litter and debris from the facility and the grounds, sweeping walkways, cleaning picnic tables, cleaning and emptying cigarette holders, keeping culverts clear of silt and debris, and snow removal for trails.
- Maintains site office, ensures all program equipment are accounted for, keeps inventory of program supplies.
- Reports on power outage to APS and Grand Canyon Park Service.
- Communicates effectively with supervisor on a consistent basis during shift and with coworkers regarding events and/or announcements that need to be made to vendors.
- Opens and closes the GC Vending Site, promptness to scheduled work shift is required. Promptly report tardiness and give timely notices for absence from work to supervisor.
- Ensures the safety and security of all people and if needed reports, monitors, and assists with emergencies until local authorities and/or personnel arrive at the scene.
- Ensures all agency requirements are up to date, such as CPR, ASIST/SafeTALK and any required training and attends all general staff meetings.
- Assists and ensures safety of the vendors, public and park traffic.
- Greets and provides the public with information regarding the vendor program, local tribes, and surrounding points of interest to tourists.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirement
High School diploma or GED and one (1) year in ranger work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. BLS and HIPAA Certification. Possess a valid State Driver’s License. Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC). Must pass a criminal background investigation in accordance with NACA policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skills in written and oral communications and excellent interpersonal skills in interaction with coworkers, supervisor, clientele, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information.
- Strong phone etiquette and proficiency with Microsoft Software.
- Skills in excellent customer service and organizational skills.
